Nestled in the heart of Edmonton, the Santa Maria Goretti Centre is more than just a banquet hall; it’s a cornerstone of the Italian-Canadian community, steeped in history and tradition. Originally a soccer field, this site has been a gathering place for Italian-Canadian soccer enthusiasts since the mid-20th century.

In 1955, a group of passionate Italian players formed the Societa’ di Cristoforo Colombo (SCC) soccer team. This team was more than just a group of players; it was a community united by their love for the beautiful game. Over the years, the SCC evolved into thriving soccer organizations that continue to enrich the local community.

Today, the Santa Maria Goretti Centre proudly hosts the Ital-Canadian Soccer and Internazionale Soccer Club of Edmonton. These organizations keep the spirit of the original SCC alive, providing a space where the community can come together to celebrate their shared heritage and passion for soccer.

Soccer and Italians go together like pasta and sauce, and at the Santa Maria Goretti Centre, this legacy is honored and cherished. As we look to the future, the Centre remains committed to being a beacon for soccer enthusiasts, fostering a sense of community and pride.

Beyond soccer, the Santa Maria Goretti Centre has grown to become a versatile venue, catering to a variety of events and gatherings. Since its reconstruction in 1987, the Centre has expanded its services to accommodate weddings, business functions, and family gatherings, making it a beloved venue for both personal and professional events.

The Centre is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere, excellent facilities, and a dedicated team that ensures every event is a memorable experience. Whether you’re planning a grand wedding, a corporate meeting, or a cozy family reunion, the Santa Maria Goretti Centre offers a space that blends tradition with modern amenities.

As the Centre continues to evolve, it remains deeply rooted in its mission to serve the community. By doubling weekly hall rentals and boosting attendance at Sunday Pronzo events, the Centre aims to further strengthen its role as a community hub.

Whether you’re a soccer fan, a member of the Italian-Canadian community, or simply someone who appreciates rich history and exceptional service, the Santa Maria Goretti Centre invites you to be part of this ongoing legacy. Join us in celebrating the beautiful game, cherished traditions, and the vibrant community that continues to thrive here.
